The CleanBC Go Electric Rebate Program in British Columbia has now paused new applications, and is expected to remain closed for the foreseeable future while the province undertakes a full review of its climate and zero-emission-vehicle incentive programs.

In addition to cars, the program included incentives aimed at light-zero-emission mobility: for example, businesses and non-profits could claim up to $1,700 toward the purchase of a cargo e-bike under the CleanBC Go Electric scheme.

For the personal-use e-bike rebate program (separate from CleanBC’s cargo-bike stream), individuals purchasing a new e-bike (minimum $2,000 value) could receive income-based rebates ranging from roughly $350 up to $1,400.

Since its launch in 2011, the province has invested more than $650 million in zero-emission-vehicle and electric-mobility supports across B.C. We hope that the government’s review of the program’s impacts and outcomes will lead to renewed funding in the future—so be sure to keep an eye out for new rebate opportunities when they become available again.
